"Highly recommend Vikki who treats me every two weeks as I have a physical job and workout most days. Such a professional approach and very knowledgeable. I’d struggle to work / train efficiently without her help keeping me injury free."

FAQS

Why is the Initial Consultation, Postural, Functionality and Range of Motion Assessment needed?
The consultation process provides me with vital information relating to your lifestyle, medical history and work routine allowing me to create a treatment plan that is safe and bespoke to your needs and goals.
Postural analysis and range of movement testing will identify any restrictions in movement and postural imbalances that could be affecting joint movement and functionality.
Often the site of pain is not the cause, for example, the lower back pain you are experiencing could be a result of tight hamstrings or weak glute muscles or the headaches you are experiencing could have originated from postural imbalances as a result of poor positioning while working at your desk.
These assessments will then be reviewed throughout your treatment journey to identify improvements and to ensure we are achieving your goals. Working together through assessment, massage, aftercare programmes and potential lifestyle adaptations we aim to resolve your current concerns as well as minimise the risk of repeat issues in the future.

How does Sports Massage differ from Swedish massage?
Although they are two different therapeutic approaches, the initial techniques used are fairly similar with the use of effleurage, petrissage, kneading, frictions and vibrations. Where Sports Massage differs is with the wider inclusion of techniques such as active and passive stretching, soft tissue release, muscle energy techniques and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation (IASTM). Additionally, a sports massage is designed to be more area-specific focusing on a chronic build up of muscular tension that has built up over time due to high training volume, muscle imbalance, poor biomechanics or trauma. The objective with Sports Massage is to aid recovery from injury, prevent further injury or to assist performance.

Is Sports Massage only for sports people?
Not at all! All of my treatments are bespoke to the individual. Whether you are an athlete preparing for a sporting event or a busy professional experiencing headaches, fatigue or stress I am able to adapt the treatment accordingly. Sports Massage aims to help maintain functional fitness for everyone!!

What should I expect post massage?

Soreness and discomfort is quite normal following a sports massage, in some cases you may experience some slight bruising however all of these symptoms should subside after 48 hours.
Try to avoid intense exercise for 24 hours after your massage but remain active in order to give the body time to repair and adapt. And again, maintain adequate hydration levels.

What is your cancellation policy?
The more notice you can give to cancel or change an appointment the better, but I require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. If you cancel or rearrange your slot with less than 24 hours’ notice, or if you fail to turn up at all, you will be required to pay for your treatment in full as I am unlikely to be able to fill that slot.
In the event that I manage to fill your late-cancelled or late-changed appointment slot with another client, I will be happy to issue you with a refund on that occasion, or transfer your payment to another appointment if you wish to rebook. This outcome cannot be guaranteed, however, for obvious reasons.
